The 4 week program incorporates Voice and Speech, The Business of Acting, and On Camera techniques to increase the actor’s fluency in preparation for the Hollywood Market.

COURSE DESCRIPTIONS

ACTING TECHNIQUE
This class presents the chief elements of American Acting Techniques.  The course provides a framework for

uncovering circumstances and character priorities, plot objectives, and underlying objectives. A revolutionary approach to the concept of playing action, inner monologue, and “the path” through the scene. The course also presents approaches to rehearsing a scene, improvisation of alternative scenarios, and practice with inner monologues.

THE BUSINESS OF ACTING
This course is designed for actors who want to further their career as professionals in Hollywood. The course focuses on marketing yourself as an actor, what your “type” is, headshots and casting, mock auditions, resumes, cover letters, finding and using resources to get an agent, demo reels, self promotion, and self management as an actor.

VOICE AND SPEECH
Using the voice as the Actor’s Instrument, the actor learns De-Structuring Techniques that are utilized to release habitual tensions in the body and free the breath impulse, allowing the actor to connect to an authentic, truthful voice. The actor learns techniques for the fundamentals in breath, posture, resonance, and basic articulation skills for proper diction and accent reduction, as applied to general American English.

ON CAMERA TECHNIQUE
This course deals with all aspects of Film and Television Auditions. The actors will develop a winning on-camera audition technique by exploring the physical adjustments necessary for the camera, how to transition from stage to film, and how to get used to the frame. Additional principles covered: Establishing Place, Creating Character, Breaking the Script down into Units of Action, Emotional Preparation, the Use of Objectives: finding them and bringing them to life through sub-textual body language. The course includes scripts from sitcoms, television dramas, and films.
