Alexa writes and directs for film, TV, and new media.

Born and raised in Hamburg, Germany, Alexa has resided in Los Angeles since 2007. Her credits include prime time, female-centric drama, as well as crime teleplays for German broadcaster ZDF (feature and TV series). Alexa has written and produced television programs in a variety of entertainment formats for broadcasters ARTE, ARD, VOX, and Kabel 1, and has written and directed TV-length documentaries for ARTE, ARD, and Canal+. In 2006 Alexa’s award-winning documentary feature début WEEKEND WARRIORS was theatrically released by one of the biggest multiplex cinemas in Germany. Her short fiction films e.g., 2000 AFI-produced “Traces”, screened at festivals worldwide and won numerous awards. From 2010 to 2014 Alexa was the multimedia producer at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, where she created more than 90 video episodes that were used across multiple platforms including mobile Apps.

A 2013 graduate from UCLA Extension feature film writing certificate program, Alexa was a writing resident at The Ragdale Foundation in 2013, a participant of Documentary Campus Masterschool in 2007, a MEDIA initiative, and received her diploma in film directing at CECC film school in Barcelona. Additional post-graduate studies at EICTV in Cuba have been supported by a scholarship from the Carl Duisberg Society.

Alexa’s multifaceted career has spanned multiple formats and countries, including film and theater work, documentary and fiction. A dual citizen US/Germany, Alexa is bilingual German/English, and fluent in Spanish.

She has taught media workshops for kids in the German school system, as well as film production workshops at the yearly “Museum and the Web conference”.

Alexa is member of the WGA-West and the German Directors Association.
